Sri Lanka won the Toss and Chose to bat as Both Sides
Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat as both sides' captains were unavailable for the final ODI of the series. Angelo Mathews had recovered from the calf injury that had kept him out of the two previous matches, but was out with the flu, while Brendon Mccullum was being rested for the final game. Kane Williamson led in his stead. Lahiru Thirimanne said the pitch looked dry but favourable for batting, while Williamson said his team would have bowled first anyway, with dew expected to form later in the evening.
Tom Latham was slotted to open the batting in place of McCullum for New Zealand, who have also left out Trent Boult and returned Tim Southee to the attack,
